Linea KVP11 – A Timeless Statement Table for Large Spaces

The Linea KVP11 table has been a custom-made product at Nikari for decades. Now, this iconic design has been incorporated as a standard piece in the Nikari collection. Its innovative structure allows for easy integration of the latest presentation technology, discreetly concealed within the table.

The Linea KVP11 table is a result of direct customer requests. For decades, Nikari’s founder, Kari Virtanen, has been crafting similar large-scale, solid wood statement tables on demand – whether for major corporations or city councils’ boardrooms.

“At the heart of the design is timelessness and simplicity. Linea KVP11 represents the signature ‘Virtanen aesthetic’– nothing superfluous, only pure form and function. We first began designing similar models nearly 30 years ago,” Virtanen says.

“The table has stood the test of time, maintaining its original form to this day.”

Linea KVP11 is a meticulously refined design, perfected over decades, now introduced as a standard part of Nikari’s collection. Over time, the table has evolved to accommodate modern technological requirements.

“It was crucial to ensure that integrating power and technology wouldn’t leave redundant holes in the surface as technology advances,” says Nikari’s Creative Director, Jenni Roininen.

To address this, Nikari designed customizable concealed compartments that discreetly house technical components. The removable parts beneath can be easily updated to align with changing technological needs.

“The solutions ensure that no electrical components are visible on the surface, preserving the table’s seamless, refined appearance,” Roininen adds.

A Statement of Craftsmanship, Elegance, and Functionality

Linea KVP11 is a celebration of solid wood.

“The use of solid wood is both clear and uncompromising,” says Kari Virtanen.

“The hollow legs provide a stable and functional foundation for a high-performance meeting table. While the core structure remains unchanged, the table can be adapted to suit different purposes and accommodate a variety of chair designs.”

Linea KVP11 consists of a pedestal base, a beam structure, and a thick tabletop composed of solid wood sections. This modular construction allows for flexible sizing while respecting the natural properties of the material.

At Nikari, customers frequently request larger versions of existing table models, but this is not feasible for tables with a single-panel top.

“Solid wood expands and contracts by several millimeters per meter, and depending on the panel’s construction, these movements can be quite visible,” Roininen explains.

For this reason, extremely wide tables cannot be made from a single wood slab. The unique advantage of Linea KVP11 is its tabletop, crafted from solid wood sections. This allows for unlimited expansion in both length and width without being constrained by the availability of exceptionally long timber pieces.

However, Linea KVP11 is designed specifically as a large-scale table. It works best for groups of eight or more, serving as the heart of meetings, executive discussions, or even as a grand dining table for larger gatherings.

A modular design also makes transportation and installation significantly easier. Unlike oversized solid wood tables that may require renting cranes and dismantling window frames for delivery, Linea KVP11 can be easily assembled on-site.

Designed for Longevity, Adaptability, and Sustainability

Finland is known for its ambitious, award-winning architectural projects and restoration work, where interiors are expected to be just as enduring and valuable as the buildings themselves.

Nikari is an ideal partner for such projects, as its products are built to last for generations. Solid wood, as a material, is practically eternal – just like Nikari’s design.

“Linea KVP11 doesn’t demand attention; its longevity and timeless design speak for themselves. Time does not diminish its form,” says Virtanen.
