That time of the year: Habitare

It is time, once again, for the annual design events and exhibitions that take place in early autumn, when we gather together and marvel at various interpretations of beauty and practicality across the field of design. We love this time of year, as it gives us endless inspiration and a sense of vitality as we move into the productive season ahead.

This year, the Kaj Franck Design Prize was awarded to Nikari’s founder, carpenter Kari Virtanen. Kari’s award exhibition, presenting his carpentry from past and present, will be seen at Habitare, from 7 thru 11 September, at stand 6f48. In the exhibition we get to see some glimpses of Kari’s earlier works, as well as some more recent work, including several product lines made for Nikari. Whether old works or new, Kari’s work has always emphasized clean lines and the beauty of simplicity, which are also the cornerstones of Nikari’s aesthetics.

In the Kaj Franck award exhibition, you will also get to know Kari’s thought process, where product creation goes through a multi-step process, from pondering to developing to finishing.

To further illustrate this multi-step process in action, Kari will also present a forthcoming spoke-back chair concept.

If you are at Habitare, be sure to visit the award exhibition, and while there, why not stop by Nikari’s own booth, 6c41, and sit with us for a while in the middle of all the creative buzz.
